Life is moving right along - we've had some ups and downs, but nothing to throw us overboard. All is the same as it always is.

We've been working on the yard, slow and steady, but it is coming along.

We've done a few things this summer and hope to add more to the list.

Memorial weekend was a lot of fun.
It started off with our normal Saturday routine of yard work, the usual mowing and so on. I planted the last bush by the porch and the angel hair ground cover by the tree. I still have two Sweet Williams to go and I'm not sure where to place those. Running longer than we thought we missed Courtney's wedding cerimony and made it to the reception.

She had the best reception I've been to. There was great food, music, family and dancing. Courtney danced all night long, she never ran out of energy. Cherie and I danced a bit and Wally ran around with Drake and the gang of kids. Mike talked to anyone who passed by. It was fun for all. Kent's children came, which we were all excited to see, especially Brent's new addition. I slowly made my way over to say hello and hold the baby, but Mike, to my surpise, was holding her. How they managed to have Mike hold her, I have no clue. After a while, I just had to steal her, she is so cute and precious. Almost makes you want a girl. She didn't fuss or cry at all, just full of smiles. We stayed the whole time and didn't make it home until close to midnight, it was worth it.

Sunday we slept in, I mean really slept in, noon. We lounged around and Mike said get dressed, we're going to the zoo. We jumped in the car and off to Hogle Zoo for a few hours. Wally enjoyed the animals and would like to go again. It was nice.

Monday was more yard work and to the in-laws for the evening. We went to a near by park and played a game of softball. Mike and Ty were the team captains and picked their teams. Mike picked Bryce and Ty picked Jaron and so on and on, Mike took his Mom and Ty took me. Surpised that Mike didn't pick his own wife, me to, but that's his loss because Ty's team won hands down! I guess he learned the hard way, his wife can play ball and yes, I can hit - pretty far too. After a good game we made our way to TGI Fridays for a late night dinner.

So the end of Memorial weekend and another work week begins, until next time.

Run In With the Law

Don’t jump to conclusions . . .

Making my home during five o’clock traffic in the HOV lane like I always do, I mean why not, I have Wally in the back and it zips me thru traffic a little faster.

Today’s drive was no different than any other day. I jump on the freeway in Provo and try to make my way home as fast as traffic will allow, which usually isn’t anymore than 50mph, but at least I’m moving and quicker than the other three lanes.

Every once in a while you hit a slowing and come to a rolling stop and pick back up and maybe again a few more times to a rolling stop. Well, that’s what we were doing, coming to a rolling stop and I noticed a Utah Highway Patrolmen in the next lane. We pick up a bit of speed and I pass the UHP, who then decides to get behind me. Ok, not a big deal, I am doing nothing wrong and I couldn't possibly be speeding. So I drive on like normal and WHAM! his lights come on, so I start pulling over to the right hoping he’ll just pass me, but instead he follows me as I make way through all the other lanes.

I look back to Wally and say I sure hope you didn’t throw anything out that window; he shakes his no with a look of confusion. In pops the UHP's head and looks at the backseat and tells me he couldn’t see anyone in the back and wanted to make sure I wasn’t breaking the law. Nope, I’m trucking my baby along with me. He tells me to be on my way and to drive in the side until I can pick up enough speed to get back on the road since traffic is heavy and fast. I thank him and on my way I go.

Normally I would have been a little upset, but I actually thought this was quite funny. I guess he’s doing his job and I just got snagged for doing the right thing. Not too bad for a Thursday drive home.
