Fun in the Snow

Yesterday we got a pretty good amount of snow that made my son's wish come true.

After we picked up the Spouse from work we put Wally in his snowsuit and boots and let him run wild into the great white of our front yard. Spouse and I shoveled huge amounts of snow making mountains for Wally to play in.

Wally loves being outside and the thought of snow makes him smile ear to ear. He's cried for snow over and over and now it's finally here.

Thinking he would go crazy playing in the snow, instead he walked around carefully not really knowing what to do. He got spurts of being brave and would walk where he could and only getting stuck a few times up to his waist.

Spouse had a brilliant idea and said we should put him in a tube and push him down our hill. Well, we did and he loved it. Wally kept saying again, again, again. We did it for a while and had to take him in. He was not happy about that at all, but we told him he could go out again tomorrow and he did.

I let him play outside for a while as I dusted the snow off of the spa. He ran around chasing Capone and wondered the backyard having tons of fun as promised.

Now that Christmas vacation has begun I can do things with my son and have plenty of time to do it.

Welcome Snow!

Welcome Snow, you are mighty late this time of year. It was nice of you to visit Minnetonka and Chicago. We’ve been very patient and have enjoyed the warmth of the sun, but we’ve been longing for a good snowfall this year.

Its two weeks until Christmas, so you have lots to catch up if we’re going to have a white Christmas this year. We welcome you with open arms and snow shovels have awaited your arrival. Please come right on in, make yourself at home this holiday season. Lay a blanket of white fluffy snow across our lawn this winter time of year, let us build a snowman and have a snowball fight. You don’t have to stay long, just enough for us to get a good tubing in.

We’ve been very excited for a great snowfall like we’ve had every year that we had to buy our son a snow suite, but what to our wondering eyes . . . no snow to be found anywhere in the valley.

Where are you Snow? We are waiting your arrival.
